With a motto of "Always Ready, Always There", more than ten thousand New York National Guard members are standing by ready to serve.

At today's Guard-x recruiting event at the Binghamton Armory on the West side, 21 year old Sergeant Madison Dawson spoke with prospective candidates about her three and a half year career, and how she has been ready to serve her community.

Including her most recent assignment: working security at the nation's capitol during the Presidential Inauguration 10 days ago.

"In those three and a half years I've been one promoted to sergeant. I worked the inauguration most recently. The experience was unparalleled, being able to be down in DC and help with such a momentous and amazing accomplishment," Dawson said.

Dawson continued her commitment to the Deposit community, serving as a volunteer firefighter during her time with the Guard.

"I said it when I graduated, actually, that community service is my life's work. And being able to see my impact in my local communities and the people I grew up with, I couldn't have asked for a better career," Dawson said.
