Black Bears Continue to Dominate FPHL
The Binghamton Black Bears are the top team in the Federal Prospects Hockey League.
Binghamton has a league-best 24 wins and a league-high 83 points this season. The Black Bears own an astounding 32-point lead for first place in the league's Empire Division.
"We've just got really good leadership and we're a very selfless team," said Binghamton head coach Brant Sherwood. "So everyone's pulling on the same rope. Whatever their role, they kind of accept it and do what's best for the team. So I think a little bit of selflessness is the reason for our success."
The Black Bears are currently on an eight-game winning streak. Binghamton has lost just once since December 7th.
"I think it's just buying into the team systems and having good leadership," said Sherwood. "They're just really good people off the ice and I think it translates on the ice and we got some hockey gods really looking out for us."
The Black Bears return home to Visions Veterans Memorial Arena this weekend for two games against Columbus. The teams square off Friday and Saturday night at 7 p.m.
