Ithaca-based environmental group Toxics Targeting is calling on the state to clean up sites with TCE contamination, including the IBM Endicott campus.

Fox 40 reached out to the Department of Environmental Conservation with questions about t-c-e soil vapor intrusion levels and cleanup. A spokesperson says the agency will work with us and that the site manager with knowledge of the IBM campus specifically was in the field today.

Toxics Targeting says the matter has become a public health risk, pointing to the high number of New Yorkers who are suffering with Parkinson's Disease, which has taken the lives of 21,000 New Yorkers in the last 20 years.

Studies show exposure to the toxic chemical Trichloroethylene, or TCE, can increase Parkinson's risks by up to 500%. That pollution was discovered over 40 years ago and advocates say is still a significant threat to public health.

As part of its campaign, toxics targeting has a feature that allows you to find out if you live near a site with high levels of TCE. You can find that by clicking here

Fox 40 will continue bringing you updates as we get more details.
