Down at Mirabito Stadium the Binghamton Rumble Ponies have had numerous names throughout the seasons such as the Binghamton Spiedies for Spiedie Fest, or the Binghamton Creatures in tribute to the Twilight Zone creator Rod Serling; but this season the team announcing a new one that nobody saw coming.

The Rumble Ponies announced on Monday that for two games this season they will become the Bathtub Donkeys, a reference to a New York state law relating to donkeys in bathtubs from the 1800's.

According to an article by Sports Illustrated it is widely rumored the law comes from a case where a donkey fell asleep in a bathtub and would eventually be washed away during a flood where locals had to bring the donkey back home and decided to sign a law to prevent it from happening again.

Binghamton will turn into the Bathtub Donkeys on June 28 against the Portland Sea Dogs and July 30 against the Harrisburg Senators.

The first home game for the Rumble Ponies will be on Tuesday April 8 against Hartford.
