The Maine-Endwell boys and girls basketball teams are preparing to compete in the Army National Guard Hoophall Invitational tournament sponsored by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.

The event will take place this weekend (Jan. 18-19) in Springfield, Massachusetts.

"We're ready to go fight, play some good games, play against teams that have a lot chemistry," said Marco Konrad, a sophomore guard for the M-E boys basketball team.

For the Spartan boys, this will be the second out-of-state tournament they have competed in this season. M-E took part in a competition in Panama City, Florida in December.

"We kind of know what to expect from our group," said Bill Ocker, the head coach of the Maine-Endwell boys team. "You're going to see some different teams, some different styles of play in a different area."

The Maine-Endwell boys will play Weaver High out of Connecticut in the opening round of the tournament Saturday afternoon. Meanwhile, the Maine-Endwell girls will face South High out of Massachusetts on Saturday.
