Binghamton Man Accused of Murder in the 2nd Degree After Woman Found Dead in an Apartment Hallway
The Binghamton Police Department has charged 51 year old Terel Heyward with 2nd Degree Murder, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd degree, and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th degree.
The charges come after 54 year old Sarah Hauer was found with a fatal gunshot wound to the head outside of her friend's apartment.
According to the investigation so far, Hauer was attempting to enter the apartment of a friend on the 7th floor when she was confronted by the resident's ex-boyfriend who shot Hauer.
Suspect Terel Heyward was later found at his apartment at 24 Isabell Street, and was arrested after attempting to flee the scene.
The suspect was in possession of a loaded .380 caliber handgun, which was found to be previously reported stolen in the Town of Union.
