Broome County Sheriff's Office Celebrates Second Year of Pink Patch Project
Earlier today, Broome County Sheriff's Office celebrated the second year of the Pink Patch Project to help local families who are battling cancer.
The project is a national campaign that helps bring law enforcement and local families together to raise breast cancer awareness. Today, Broome County Sheriff's Office presented a check for over $2,700 to the local non-profit and breast cancer awareness organization Traci's Hope.
Throughout the first two years participating in the project, the Sheriff's Office has raised over $7,000 for local families battling cancer.
"It's obviously very important because my mother is a breast cancer survivor. I also have sister in laws that are survivors. And with my increased risk and stuff, that's something that, you know, really stands out to me. How important it is and how many people in this community are struggling with breast cancer. So I think it's an amazing thing to be able to help out anybody. We can, you know, in our community that are struggling with this horrible disease," Officer Jennifer McPeek said.
