A Roxbury man has pleaded guilty to a DWAI charge.

According to the Delaware County District Attorney, 71-year-old John Sanders pleaded guilty to one count of Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs on December 19th. The D.A. says in June 2024, Sanders was initially pulled over for speeding while in Middletown. Standardized Field Sobriety tests performed at the scene helped determine he was impaired. Further evaluation determined Sanders was impaired by a CNS depressant.

He was sentenced to a one-year conditional discharge, which includes attending a Victim Impact Panel and successfully completing an Impaired Driver Program.  Sander’s license was also revoked. If he violates the terms of his conditional discharge, he is eligible to be re-sentenced to one year in jail.
