For the third straight day this week, students attending the elementary and middle schools in the Johnson City Central School District will be staying home from school on Wednesday.

District officials say cleaning crews have made significant progress in getting the schools ready for students and staff, but there will be no school Wednesday. Officials add that there will be a two-hour delay on Thursday for students.

The high school remains operating as normal.

The three-day closure was necessitated after a small electrical fire broke out in a second-story classroom Sunday evening. The cleaning crew was hired to make sure the building was smoke-free before allowing students and staff back in the building.
