The Binghamton men's basketball team defeated UMBC, 87-82, Saturday afternoon at the Events Center.

Chris Walker scored 21 points to pace the Bearcats as they claimed a victory in their America East opener. Gavin Walsh logged a double-double with 18 points and 17 rebounds in the victory. Nehemiah Benson (14 points), Wes Peterson (14 points), and Tymu Chenery (10 points) also scored in double-figures for the Bearcats.

Binghamton improves to 9-7 overall (1-0 America East). The Bearcats are back in action Thursday when they visit Maine.
