How One Local Spot is Bringing a World-Renowned New Year's Tradition to Binghamton
2025 is almost here and it turns out you don't have to travel to New York City to see the ball drop, as over at local Binghamton restaurant Station 45, Owner Mark Yonaty is continuing his over decade-long ball drop celebration.
"This is a wonderful way of and some people just don't want to be out in the crowd or go out to, you know, to bars or clubs or restaurants or anything of that nature. So it's a nice event," Yonaty said.
Originally beginning at his old restaurant "Social on State" on State Street in Binghamton, Yonaty moved the event to Lewis Street last year.
However, this is the first New Year's Eve the restaurant is officially open full-time. Hundreds came out to last year's ball drop, but it turns out that was an off-year as Yonaty says in the past he's seen several thousand.
"We moved the event over here in our hopes over the next couple of years we'll continue to grow it into the event it's been the last couple of years," Yonaty said.
Yonaty is also prepping for Station 45's sold-out holiday dinner event, hosting hundreds of customers in the dining room. The location makes sure a full staff is on deck for the night and gets a head start on the night's prefixed menu.
"Our focus is always to continue and absorb and improve on the things that we've gotten wrong and nobody's perfect, but we'll always strive to be the best we can be," Yonaty said.
Station 45 is located at 45 Lewis Street in Binghamton.
