A grant from a local non-profit is helping the Broome County Bulls high school hockey team.

S.C.O.R.E., a 501-3C non-profit that serves Broome County, recently announced it is awarding a $5,000 grant to the BC Bulls to help with costs associated with the program.

"They're very generous with the money, and they support us 100%," said Broome County head coach Jim Lalley. "And they really want, you know, to, to give back and help the players. And it directly helps the players. It doesn't go anywhere else. It's going right to the players. You know, whether it's it helps with team meals, equipment, player costs, whatever it is, it's going right through the players."

The Bulls are made up of high school hockey players from eight school districts around the Southern Tier. The 2024-2025 season is the second campaign for the program.

Broome County has posted a 3-3 overall record thus far in 2024-2025. The Bulls have home games this weekend with a contest at SUNY Broome Friday night before playing at The Farm in Vestal Saturday evening.
