Local Liquor Stores see Sales Boost Ahead of New Year's Eve
Most people bring in the new year with a drink of their choice, whether it be champagne, wine or some form of liquor.
A nice glass of sparkling cider or juice is also recommended for non-drinkers.
Some of the busiest times of the year for beverage centers and liquor stores are around the end of the year, which is the holiday season.
Northgate Liquors and Wine Owner Nicole Sabato says, "There's always an increase in sales, just traffic in general through the store this time of year. The week of Christmas is great. The week in New Year's Eve. Also, we'll start to see pick-up this afternoon and tomorrow. Lots of sparkling wines, champagnes, things like that. Prosecco, bubbles."
On average, a typical bubbly beverage costs 10 to 20 dollars, with some of the more high-end spirits costing 50 to over 100 dollars.
Another drink has seen a rise in popularity over the years.
"We've seen quite an increase in canned cocktails, pre-made cocktails, things like that, eight packs and four packs of different things that for sure, in the years past were not so popular. I think it's the convenience of those for sure," said Sabato.
Sabato says when it comes to hosting, keep it simple when picking out your beverages.
Sabato says," Don't make it too complicated. Get one or two things and that's it. Make a signature cocktail. You don't need to have five different items for all these different people. Get one or two things. Make sure you have a couple of bubbly's on hand and you'll be all set. "
Most importantly, drink responsibly and never get behind the wheel if you're under the influence.
