Xavier Watson has been a standout athlete at Waverly, winning sectional titles in both football and basketball while also winning a state title in football back in 2023. Today Watson added the title division one athlete to his historic resume.

Watson would sign his National Letter of Intent to play for Division-I UConn next season. In his final two years with the Wolverines Watson would be key to the offensive success accounting for 28 touchdowns and over 1500 receiving yards, 917 of them coming from their state title run.

The future Husky spoke on committing to UConn next season and what made him take his football talents to the state of Connecticut.

" They were the best school when it came to just the way they treated me when I came on campus," said Watson. "The whole time I was there, they just took good care of me and it's just it's nice to know they want you as bad as you want them".

Watson also spoke on having some of his teammates both past and present in attendance for the special occasion and the impact they had on him as a player.

" I wouldn't be here without everybody and all the support I got from my coaches and teammates and the whole town in general," said Watson. "It's really nice to have that support, it really just gives me a drive and something to work for."

UConn currently has an 8-4 record this season and will take on North Carolina in the 2024 Wasabi Fenway Bowl in Boston on December 28.
