Hartwick College Launches Fundraising Campaign to Improve Athletics Facilities
A new fundraising campaign is underway at Hartwick College.
The campaign is called the Talon Trust and its goal is to raise money for the school's NCAA Division III athletics program with an emphasis on improving facilities.
"We have work to do in terms of updating some of our facilities," said Paul Vecchio, who serves as the Executive Director of Athletics at Hartwick.
Vecchio continued: "Our athletic training room is our No. 1 target right now. It hasn't changed really since this building opened in the late 1960s and probably we have added 150 students since that was built."
The goal is to expand the training room to triple its size. It's hoped that money from the Talon Trust will also improve other athletics facilities at Hartwick.
"I would say we are probably looking at a brand new floor in Lambros Arena which is a pretty legendary facility here," said Vecchio, when discussing the home for the men's and women's basketball and men's and women's volleyball programs. "We're looking at replacing the floor next summer as well as modernizing the entire arena."
Vecchio added: "We have three grass fields that we would like to see eventually transition at least one of them to turf in the very near future, potentially several of them."
