Owego Man Facing Charges After Ghost Guns Discovered During Separate Investigation

An Owego man is facing several charges after state police discovered he was illegally manufacturing ghost guns.
State police say the discovery of the ghost guns came while they were investigating a separate matter at a Lisle Road residence in Owego. They add that John M. Standish was manufacturing the guns and was in possession of firearms that are not NY SAFE ACT-compliant, high-capacity magazines, and silencers. Standish does not possess a pistol permit and cannot lawfully possess a firearm.
During the investigation, it was determined that Standish was using 3D printers to illegally make parts for the guns.
Standish was charged with the following:
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd degree
- 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd degree
- Criminal Possession of an Assault Weapon in the 3rd degree
- Criminal Possession of a Firearm
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th degree
