Earlier this afternoon, State Senator Lea Webb promoted her first-holiday sock drive to help those in the local community who are experiencing housing insecurity.

The drive will provide those in need with a pair of socks for the winter months. Webb is teaming up with the founder of the Solution to Hunger Inc. Crystal Wolfe to help those in need in Broome, Cortland, and Tompkins County.

Collection sites within the 52nd district include senator Webb's Binghamton district office, Homer Center for the Arts in Cortland County, and Senator Webb's Ithaca district office.

"For unhoused or homeless individuals in our community, especially during this time of year when you have a lot of inclement weather, one of the top needs that is expressed aside from making sure that people have access to housing quality, safe housing is socks," Webb said. "It's something that may seem innocuous or may not seem like a big deal, but for community members who are impacted by this issue the most, it is a significant issue."
