A male suspect who was wanted by the Chemung County Sheriff's Office on a murder charge was arrested last Friday in Binghamton.

According to Binghamton Police, on November 22nd, the Chemung County Sheriff's Office contacted Binghamton Police and informed them that a suspect who had an active arrest warrant out of their agency may have been in Binghamton.

Binghamton Police learned that 17-year-old Michael W. Williams, Jr. from Elmira was wanted for Murder in the 2nd degree and may have fled to Binghamton. An investigation determined that Williams was inside of an apartment at 10 Felters Road. At approximately 9:30 p.m., he was located and taken into custody and later turned over to custody of the Chemung County Sheriff's Office.

According to the Chemung County Sheriff's Office, at approximately 12:45 a.m. on November 15th, police responded to 1154 Richard Street in the Town of Southport for a report of someone who had been shot multiple times.

An investigation at the scene determined there had been a party and one of the attendees, 21-year-old J'Sean Williams had been shot multiple times. Police say Michael Williams, Jr. and J'Sean Williams are not related. J'Sean Williams was treated on the scene and he was taken to a hospital, where he passed away from his injuries.

Further investigation led to Michael Williams being developed as a suspect and he was found in Binghamton last week.
