Lacrosse season may be a few months away, but a Chenango Forks girls lacrosse player put pen to paper on Thursday afternoon to play Division I lacrosse after graduation.

Blue Devils defender Riley Spalik officially signed her NLI on Thursday to play for George Washington University. Most recently Spalik would be recognized as First-Team Section IV Division 3 All-Star and also a Section IV USA Lacrosse All-American. Spalik is also currently maintaining a 95.4 average as a student athlete and spoke to the media on why she picked GWU.

"It held everything I wanted in my education," said Spalik. "Like most schools, they don't take nursing or they don't take certain majors and George Washington had a lot of them, and that's what I loved about it."

The Revolutionaries would have a 4-13 record in the 2024 season, but Spalik says she hopes her skills can improve the program in the upcoming years.

"Hopefully I can impact their program," said Spalik. "I want to make it as good as possible and I love that team."

George Washington is a Division I program within the A-10 Conference.
