A Binghamton man has pleaded guilty to a drug charge in county court.

According to the Broome County District Attorney, 40-year-old Richard Harmon pled guilty to Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree. Back in January, a motorcycle was spotted speeding with no lights on. It was being operated by Harmon. He attempted to flee when a county sheriff's office Strategic Response Group (SRG) deputy attempted a traffic stop.

The motorcycle stalled and Harmon attempted to flee on foot, but was caught. He was found in possession of meth and $1,900 in cash.

Then in March, an SRG member spotted a different motorcycle speeding. When the deputy caught up to the bike, it illegally passed another vehicle and fled. Eventually, it slowed down and pulled to the side of the road, made a U-turn, and attempted to flee.

Once again, it was Harmon operating the bike. He went off the road into a ditch, and fled on foot. He was found with three bags containing over two ounces of meth.

Harmon is scheduled to be sentenced in mid-February next year. It is expected that he will be sentenced to five years in state prison and two years of post-release supervision.
