An Unadilla man has pleaded guilty to a weapons charge after a crash turned up a gun in the vehicle.

According to the Delaware County District Attorney, 20-year-old Elijah O'Neill pleaded guilty to Criminal Possession of a Firearm. In July, a Village of Sidney police sergeant responded to a motor vehicle crash on River Street in Sidney. O'Neill was identified as one of the operators of the vehicles involved. During the investigation, a loaded .40-caliber Glock handgun was discovered sitting next to the driver's side door of the vehicle.

O'Neill admitted it was his pistol, he did not have a pistol permit, and it was later discovered that the gun had been previously stolen.

It is anticipated that O'Neill will be sentenced to six months in the Delaware County Correctional Facility and five years of felony probation supervision.
