Oneonta Man Sentenced in Delaware County After Swerving at Bicyclist
An Oneonta man has been sentenced to probation on a Attempted Reckless Endangerment charge.
According to the Delaware County District Attorney, Zachary Hoffman Kowatch was sentenced to five years of probation on the charge of Attempted Reckless Endangerment in the 1st degree.
The D.A. says in May, state police responded to a report in the Village of Fleischmanns in Delaware County, after a caller claimed his son was riding his bike down the street when a vehicle swerved at him. The driver also yelled several anti-Semitic slurs as he passed the bicyclist. The driver then turned around, revved the engine, and drove back towards the rider. He made more anti-Semitic statements and drove off.
Witnesses were able to get the vehicle's license plate number and a check of DMV records, it was discovered that Kowatch was operating the vehicle. He pleaded guilty last week and was sentenced.
