Binghamton Women's Soccer Clinches Spot in America East Tournament With Tie Against UMass Lowell
The Binghamton Bearcats Women's soccer team needed a win or a tie in either of their final two games of the season to qualify for the America East Postseason. They did just that with a 3-3 draw to UMass Lowell in their penultimate regular season game.
The Bearcats entered the day with 10 points in the America East Women's Soccer standings, good enough for third place. Bryant, UMass Lowell, and Vermont all entered the day with 9. With just two games left to go in the regular season, the Bearcats only needed to get to 11 before the end of the year to secure a spot in the postseason.
Things started strong for the Bearcats, as they scored three goals in the first half courtesy of Anna Buckwalter, Megan Baker, and Mackenzie Ryder. But UMass Lowell responded with a three-goal half of their own in the second, securing the tie with a goal in the 88th minute.
Binghamton can improve their standing in the upcoming postseason tournament as they take on UAlbany to end the season Thursday, October 31.
