100 years ago today, John Duncan, the architect and former Binghamton resident who designed the Daniel S. Dickinson monument in front of the courthouse, was also the designer of “Grant’s Tomb,” the memorial for Ulysses S. Grant in New York City.

Police have been asked to aid in the search for a man who escaped from the State Hospital last night.

Ten boys ranging in age from 9 to 14 years were given a severe lecture by the judge in Children’s Court yesterday. The boys have been using an old shack along the Susquehanna River bank as a clubhouse, and have been terrorizing residents on Laurel Avenue by breaking windows and petty thefts.

Thieves broke into three Binghamton businesses last night. They ransacked offices, pried open a cash register, and made off with a total of about 60 cents.
