BC Safe's "Chalk the Walk, Have the Talk" campaign continued to raise awareness for mental health tonight with its annual gallery art show at Broome County Public Library.

Over 125 pieces of art were on display showing positive messages and raising awareness for those struggling with mental health. The art pieces allowed people to express their feelings and help break down mental barriers they might be facing.

Tonight's gallery marked the final event of BC Safe's 5th annual month-long "Chalk the Walk, Have the Talk" campaign.

"It's integral to the whole process of this. If this this allows people to have this becomes a common language and it's just an integral part of conversations on a day to day basis," Community Systems Coordinator for Broome County Mental Health Heidi McKeska said. "We get up in the morning, we ask, how are you? You, you go to work and you come home and you say, Fine. We should be adding those other things. So what was good about it? How are you feeling about it? So you can have it as part of our conversation and then be able to just talk. It's so important to be able to have that and break that stigma."
