Our latest Amphenol Aerospace team of the week takes us out to Whitney Point check on the Eagles field hockey program.

Whitney Point has been at the top of the mountain for years, the eagles now with eight state titles under head coach Nicole Huston, but coach says the winning side of the sport is not her primary focus; but the development of the right culture within the program.

"The record is just happening so we do not focus on that," said Huston. "We focus on if we are being a good teammate and bringing that back into our sport and having more camaraderie has been a huge thing for us."

That message has been past to the players where they know their recent success which includes a 59 game win streak and three straight state titles; however the team says they are trying to not focus on the past but acknowledging the potential around the team this season.

"Most of the time we try to get past that and think about what we have to do to succeed," said sophomore goaltender Lauren Magill. "We just forget about the target and just know that we have what it takes to get to that goal so we just focus on that."

Nobody knows Coach Huston's tactics more thank her daughter Genevieve, the current junior most recently verbally committing to Syracuse University and says that there is always room for growth both for herself and the team.

"Each day we have to push ourselves  and give 110% because we want to be better each practice," said Huston. "Practice like you play and just keep pushing each other and the better we do in practice the better we are going to be in games".

Overall the Eagles culture not only making memories on the field, but off the field as well.

"Everyone is a family here, we're not just teammates, we are like sisters." said Magill. "Nicky and Danny are our moms and it's just a big family".
