PA Man Charged After Burglary, Carjacking in Owego
An Athens, Pennsylvania man is facing several felony charges after Village of Owego Police say he burglarized a building and then stole a vehicle at gunpoint.
According to police, officers responded to 200 West Avenue in the village around 10:15 a.m. for a burglary at an industrial property. The investigation led to Nicholas Cron being identified as the suspect and that while he was burglarizing the building, he was confronted by a civilian.
Cron then brandished a gun and fled on foot. Police located him about an hour later, and they say Cron brandished the firearm again at a vehicle and carjacked it, fleeing the area. During the ensuing search and pursuit, it was learned that Cron had stolen numerous vehicles and property from several additional vehicles.
Nearly 10 days later, police located Cron in the area of the Montrose Turnpike and Gould Road in the Town of Owego. When confronted by police, Cron attempted to flee using a stolen UTV, but crashed the vehicle. It was then officers were able to capture Cron after a brief struggle.

- Robbery in the 1st degree
- Criminal Use of a Firearm in the 1st degree
- Burglary in the 2nd degree
- Criminal Possession of a Firearm in the 3rd degree
He was arraigned and remanded to county jail on $100,000 cash or $200,000 bail bond or $1,000,000 secured bond. Additional charges are pending by other participating agencies.
