Inaugural College Vs High School Basketball Challenge Held In Johnson City
It may be August but the sport of basketball was the main topic in the 607 on Saturday night as the first ever "College vs High School Basketball Challenge" took place over in Johnson City.
The event was put on by Elite 607 Runs and held at the Bulldogs Sports Complex as both teams looked for bragging rights for the first ever trophy.
Event organizer Azim Griffin says that this event he hopes puts Section IV basketball in a better light when discussed as the best sections for basketball within the state.
"A lot of times Section IV gets looked over," said Griffin. "We produce college players and we have high level high school players and three that currently hold division one offers and we play good basketball".
The high school team was coached by Binghamton High School Head Coach Duncan Paddick who says that the athletes on his team are looking to set the tone ahead of the upcoming basketball season this Winter.
"In terms of the high school guys they are saying the best is yet to come," said Paddick. "Guys are looking to show that they have done a lot but wait until you see what they do this year".
