We continue on Fox 40’s Top 40 Most Impactful Local Sports Figures of All Time right now..

Number 34 is Maine-Endwell's Mike Mancini!

Mancini, similar to a handful of others on this list, still has a lot of legacy left to give, but what he's already done is leave a trail of trophies and accolades, both individually and as a team.

Mancini’s story begins younger than most on this list. When he was just 12, Mancini was one of 11 Spartans that represented Maine Endwell’s little league team. The group earned a state title and then was one of the eigth teams to play in the United States bracket and eventually play in the world championship against South Korea. There, the spartans were immortalized, winning 2-1.

Although Mancini is a representative of that story, it would be disingenuous and unfair to label that as his greatest accomplishment so far. Mike went on to play football, basketball and baseball in high school. Mancini was ranked as the top shortstop in the state of New York and won the region with Maine-Endwell his freshman and junior seasons. On the gridiron, Mancini showed off even more, winning the Class B state championship his senior season and being named the Class B player of the year.

After graduating high school, Mancini attended James Madison University during his first two years of college, batting .308 over 117 games and hitting 15 home runs this year, including four in two games in the NCAA Regional. Mancini announced earlier this year that he is transferring to perennial powerhouse Vanderbilt.

For winning the Little League World Series, being an all-around athlete in high school and winning a state championship as the best player in New York, along with his dominance on the diamond in both high school and college baseball, Mike Mancini comes in at number 34 on Fox 40's Top 40...A guy who'll surely continue to make the Southern Tier proud for years to come.
