Delhi Man Pleads Guilty to Weapons Charge
A Delhi man has pleaded guilty to a weapons charge stemming from an incident back on New Year's Eve 2023 into New Year's Day 2024.
According to the Delaware County District Attorney, Paul M. Fontana, Jr. pleaded guilty to the charge of Attempted Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 1st degree on Monday. Fontana was initially facing 27 counts. The D.A. says members of both Delhi Police and the Delaware County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of someone making threats to harm himself and others.
When police arrived, they found Fontana holding a loaded assault rifle, containing a 60-round magazine. Police were able to take Fontana into custody with no injuries, and numerous illegal guns were discovered in the house after a search warrant was executed. Some of the guns found were ghost guns, lacking serial numbers.
It is expected that Fontana will be sentenced to six years in state prison and five years of post-release supervision. There has been no sentencing scheduled yet.
