As Friday, June 21 marked the first day of professional competition for the dicks sporting goods open, it also marked the tournament's annual Sock-Out Cancer Day.

Throughout En-Joie golf club, you can see people wearing rainbow-colored socks to raise awareness for those with cancer. Sock-Out Cancer teamed up with UHS and Guthrie Lourdes to split the funds raised today between the two hospitals.

All money raised today supports individuals who needs help in the costs associated with getting their treatment.

"The mission as I count cancer is very basic. It's to help individuals with cancer that unfortunately have basic living expense needs," Chairman of Security Mutual Life Bruce Boyea said. "This is an all-volunteer organization. The dollars that are raised here go to individuals who need to be fed and might need help with transportation to get to their treatment."
