Guilty Pleas Reached in Broome County
Several people pleaded guilty to various crimes in Broome County this week, according to the Broome County District Attorney.
Carnell McCarden pleaded guilty to a weapons charge stemming from a search warrant being executed last April on Miriam Street. McCarden was found in possession of a loaded Beretta 22LR and an unloaded Taurus .380. He pleaded guilty to Attempted Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd degree. He will be sentenced in July and faces five years in state prison.
Tyheem Carpentar also pleaded guilty to a weapons charge. Carpentar forcibly stole property from another person on Washington Avenue in Endicott in January 2023. While fleeing, he also discarded a loaded handgun. Carpentar pleaded guilty to Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd degree. Sentencing will occur in June and he faces seven years in state prison.
Martin Matias pleaded guilty to a drug charge as a second felony offender. In October 2023, he was found in possession of one-eighth of an ounce or more of meth during a traffic stop. Matias admitted to possession with the intent to sell and pleaded guilty to Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree. He too will be sentenced in June. He faces eight years in state prison.
