The Vestal Chateau Senior Apartment applications are now opened, announced on Thursday, March 7 by numerous Broome County representatives.

The complex features 30 affordable housing units, offering 20 one-bedroom units and 10 two-bedroom units

All units include modernized kitchens and bathrooms and are accessible for those with hearing, sight, and mobile impairments.

"I can't tell you how many seniors that come up and talk to me and they say we would love to have a place. You know, we have this big home on the west side. We want to stay in Broome County. We don't need to stay in this big home anymore," Broome County Executive Jason Garnar said. "But there's really not a lot of smaller places where we can kind of step down into that are quiet, that are beautiful, that are just kind of like the place where we want to live in our twilight years and our senior years. And this is exactly the type of place when I think about a place that people are asking for this."

March 29th is the application deadline and a lottery to determine the occupancy will be on April 12th.
