It's that time of year again where Fox 40 is honoring teachers in the community who go above and beyond for their students. This week, the highlight is on Chenango Forks.

Keith Rosko has been a teacher at Chenango Forks for 34 years.

As Department Chair, he and his colleague, Mrs. Doolittle, manage over 30 classes year to year.

One thing that makes the Forks Art Department different, is how the students are allowed to express themselves.

"We put in creative crafts. This year, our focus is bad art, so you know, the whole semester has been clothespin people and making art from doilies. And like all those things that you look at and think it's really tacky, but when you think about it, you realize, well, it's not really tacky, it's kitsch. And kitsch is fun. It's a valid art form." Said Rosko.

What he realizes is that some of those experiences allows the students to learn the most.

"It's been a lot of fun in a way to teach more complex concepts without the kids even realizing that they're being taught anything, let alone something complex. I really like it when I get a course and I can have the kids walk away thinking, Well, we didn't really do anything that was just fun."

In his thirty plus years as an educator, he's also found that the teacher never really stops learning, especially after having children of his own.

"It's been a lot of fun in a way to teach more complex concepts without the kids even realizing that they're being taught anything, let alone something complex. I really like it when I get a course and I can have the kids walk away thinking, Well, we didn't really do anything that was just fun."

Congratulations Mr. Rosko!
