A Binghamton man has been sentenced after smuggling meth into the Broome County Jail.

According to the Broome County District Attorney's Office, 37-year-old Ronald B. Bodden was sentenced in Broome County Court to two to four years in New York State Prison, after pleading guilty to Promoting Prison Contraband in the first degree.

The office says Bodden admitted that on June 16, 2022, he possessed a quantity of methamphetamine while being booked into the Broome County Jail on an unrelated charge.

The office notes, Bodden has a criminal history that includes a 2015 felony weapon possession conviction in Queens.

“The Broome County District Attorney’s Office continues to work with law enforcement to concentrate on sending repeat offenders to prison. By doing this Broome County has not seen a spike in crime like other Upstate cities,” said Michael A. Korchak, Broome County District Attorney.
