Coming off a state final-four run, Seton Catholic Central reloaded losing its two top scorers, but no worries for the Saints as our latest Athlete of the Week, Drew Erickson, has filled in the reigns.

Three-The number that's helped the junior guard average nearly 30 points a game.

"He's automatic, he's a shooter he's automatic," said senior guard Mike Lee.

He's shooting nearly 50 percent from beyond the arch.

"Terrific, fundamentally sound form as a shooter," said head coach Chris Sinicki. "And the other parts of his game, also not too bad, not too bad."

And they shouldn't be considering basketball might be Erickson's first memory.

"Probably two or three years old," Erickson said. "I remember picking up a basketball. It's always been my favorite sport and I just remember always as a little kid just shooting hoops."

Which made the decision to come to Seton his freshman year, that much easier.

"I knew I was coming to a program where basketball was very intense here," Erickson said. "I knew I was going to come to a program where I was going to become better. Basketball is taken very serious. I just knew that I was going to come in here and try and be the best player I could."

A weight off his teammates' shoulders.

"I remember when he first played us when he was at Green and he destroyed me," Lee said.

Though Erickson's freshman year was spent on JV, in the last three years he has become a face of SCC.

"He's really an ambassador of Seton Catholic Central," Sinicki said.

Meaning he was ready and willing to fill the shoes of giants.

"Obviously, when you lose Kaelin Thomas's scoring production, Michael Bucko's scoring production. Your point production is going to have to go up to make this team successful," Sinicki said.

And he does so looking like...

"Trae Young, Steph Curry type," Lee said.

But Erickson sees himself as more of an elite 3 & D type.

"I love Kevin Huerter on the Sacramento Kings," Erickson said."I kind of modeled my game off him. He's kind of big, but you know I kind of modeled them off him."

Regardless of who he's compared to, Drew Erickson is one of one.

"He's who he is, and we haven't had one like him before," Sinicki said. "I doubt we'll have one like him when he leaves here."
