BU Women's Soccer Wins America East Regular Season Title
The Binghamton University women's soccer team finished off its regular season tonight in Maryland with a bout against UMBC and the Bearcats knew going into this game that a win would secure a first-round bye in the conference tournament.
The Bearcats did not disappoint and came away with four goals in the first half alone to knock off the Retrievers by a score of 5-0 and earn their third regular season title. Peyton Gilmore, Victoria McKnight, Emma Colling, Hannah Knych, and Brooke Herber each added goals while Nicole Scott and Kaitlyn Williams combined to record a clean sheet.
But most important of all, the Bearcats have clinched the one seed in the America East playoffs and the road to the NCAA tournament will run through Vestal for the America East.
The women finish their regular season at 9-5-3 with a conference record of 6-1-1. This win earns them a bye in the quarterfinals meaning BU will not have to play again until the AE's final four which will be played on Thursday, November 3 at 6 p.m.
