A pair of Bearcats took time to talk with students at Chenango Bridge Elementary.

Binghamton University Women’s Basketball players Denai Bowman and Birna Benonysdottir Zoomed with multiple classes at the school. They read stories to kindergarten through second graders and answered questions and shared stories of perseverance with 5th grade students. Chenango Bridge 5th grade teacher Emily Kuhn says during a school year that has been altered so much by the pandemic, students were very excited to have the opportunity to learn in a bit of a different way.

“It’s just such an inspiring activity for my kids, especially right now,” says Kuhn. “During these challenging times it’s really difficult to connect with the community and I love this experience for them. I have a lot of athletes in my class so they love talking to college level athletes.

Kuhn says this was the first time they have done something like this and hope to continue to do it moving forward.
