Today Union-Endicott honored a man who has been the heart of their football program for 50 years.

Tigers Football players and coaches celebrated Howard Bowen or as they call him, “Shorty”. In his over 50 years with the program Shorty has basically done it all for U-E. From team manager, equipment inventory, practice-set-up, laundry, and as the players say, the gameday hype man. All of it has been done as a volunteer.

Members of the program shared glowing remarks about Shorty and what he means to Tigers Football. Bowen says the best part about his job with the team is all the relationships it has created.

“These people, the rest of the kids, they’re family, you take care of your family, what else is there to do,” says Bowen.

Bowen was presented with a certificate, along with a pair of custom shoes and a model helmet.
