With schools closed and social distancing being practiced, Johnson City senior Xavier Hill signed his National Letter of Intent to play basketball at Division II New Haven from home. Hill was the leading scorer on the Wildcats team that won the Class A Section 4 title and went on to grab the program’s first state playoff victory in the first round against New Paltz. Their playoff run, unfortunately, would end due to COVID-19 canceling the Winter Championships. Hill said this is a dream come true but that he isn’t done yet.

“Not only that but I’m trying to play pro if I could someday,” says Hill. “I believe if I work hard enough, go to college, get my head right, I could probably do that too one day.”

Hill says he chose to play for the Chargers because the coaching staff and players treat each other like family. He’s not sure what he will be majoring in yet but is leaning towards something with nutritional health or in the medical field.
