Broome County has had its 4th death due to COVID-19. It was a male in 70's died at Lourdes on Tuesday.

Including the 4 deaths, we have 41 confirmed cases, 12 in the hospital, 19 at home, and 6 have since recovered.

We've had 373 tested, 306 are negative, and 26 pending.

Broome County Executive Jason Garnar states it's never easy to report a county death but it's even harder when he hears of people not following social distancing guidelines.

The light in the darkness however, is acts of kindness. Garnar spoke with the daughter of one of the COVID-19 victims, who is buying food for those that are on the front lines of this situation, and acts of kindness like that will get us through this pandemic.

Garnar said "Broome county has been a community that has seen good times and seen bad times... We've been through adversity in just the last ten years... Floods... historic snow storms... You name it we got it... We are in the fight of our lives right now... But whether it was the floods... Whether it was the snow storms... Whether it was a pandemic like this today... We rally together... We support each other... We push forward and we get through it..."

In some slightly unrelated news, Garnar also mentioned at the County update, filling out the 2020 census even in these trying times.
