Senator Chuck Schumer is looking to use a home field advantage in the fight to save the Binghamton Rumble Ponies.

Senator Schumer announced that next week he will be bringing top MLB officials, including a MLB Deputy Commissioner, directly to NYSEG Stadium in Binghamton to discuss the future of minor league baseball in Broome County. Schumer and the MLB officials will hear from local stakeholders and have an opportunity to view the Rumble Ponies facilities. Following the reports of the MLB's plan to eliminate 42 minor league teams, including the Rumble Ponies, Schumer had an in person meeting with MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred urging him to have officials visit Binghamton to discuss the topic.

"I am pleased that the MLB has heeded my call and will be joining me in Binghamton next week to meet with local leaders and see the first rate Rumble Pony facility up close," says Schumer. "MLB needs to step up to the plate and play ball with Southern Tier stakeholders to find a solution that doesn't strike out the Rumble Ponies."
