The Black Bear Winery in Chenango Forks is closing its doors after 17 years in business. Owners Sandy and Mark Stacey say its time to retire.

"We've really enjoyed connecting with people from near and far and we'd like to say 'thank you for being open-minded and see you around the neighborhood,'" says Mark Stacey.

The Staceys started their winery with the idea to make all their wines without grapes. The wines brewed at the County Rd 1 winery are made from alternative New York State fruits.

They've put the building up on the market and are hoping someone will pick up the torch.

The official last day is December 31st.

Before closing up, the Staceys will celebrate Black Bear Winery's 17th anniversary with an open house on November 9th and 10th, giving away free samples.
