SUNY Broome Hornets Soccer Swarm Corning
The SUNY Broome Hornets men's soccer squad came out stinging the Corning Community College Red Barons, Wednesday evening, knocking in goal after goal in the first opening minutes to put the game out of reach early at SUNY Broome, 10-1.
In just 10 minutes after the opening whistle, the Hornets were already on top of the Red Barons by a pair of goals. The third goal came just one minute later (11:00) from a corner kick served in by James Parnaby. After Parnaby's teammate, Charlie Deforges, made a run into the box on a crossing pattern, the ball skimmed past Deforges and deflected off a chasing Red Baron for an own goal.
Things just didn't seem to fall Corning's way in this bout.
And apparently Deforges was still upset he didn't get the touch for the goal, because soon after the own goal by the Barons he split Corning's defense and charged into the box with a breakaway shot. Pulling back and ripping a goal that found the corner of the net, Deforges, for sure, scored a goal to make it 4-0 Hornets.
Another great set of plays came from SUNY Broome's #11 Forward, Pedro Marcano. Finding his way around the field with angelic footwork, Pedro earned the people's vote (VOTE for PEDRO) by scoring back-to-back goals, with an assist by Nazar Fedorchuk, to help the Hornets move to 2-2 on the year with the win against Cornell Community College.
