After nine years in business, owners of Tranquil Bar & Bistro have decided "it's time to call it a day." The small, eclectic eatery located on the corner of Pine and Fayette Streets will close on April 2nd, after Binghamton Restaurant Week.

Since it opened, Tranquil has helped promote initiatives encouraging patrons to support Binghamton restaurants. Since that time, Binghamton's restaurant scene has grown -- and its that success, co-owner Sean Massey noted led to Tranquil's closing.

"Ironically, we may have also been doomed by the increasing economic success of the City of Binghamton. Although there was little competition when we opened - that has changed significantly in the past few years." -- Sean Massey, Co-owner, Tranquil Bar & Bistro.

Massey also hinted at a new future for the 36 Pine Street building -- saying the would let "the new owner, a friend and former bartender" reveal the plans himself.
