In less than two months the Rumble Ponies will take the field. On opening day, the name of the team won't be the only difference at NYSEG Stadium.

"We're gonna have a brand new upgraded Fun Zone over here, over here, we're gonna have a new BBQ stand, behind us, our party deck," says Rumble Ponies General Manager Jim Weed.

The right field gate is getting a complete overhaul to become the main entrance of the stadium. All of this is aimed at improving fan experience.

"Our huge batting cage, which is actually for the players, but we'll tie in a fan experience with that because it's going to have a glass facade on the front of it," says Weed, "So fans can peak in and see what's going on with their favorite players taking some swings."

Other upgrades include LED lighting and a new bullpen. The $2.5 million project is covered by $2 million in state funds and another $500,000 from Evans Street Baseball, the owner of the Rumble Ponies.

The team says the improvements are already paying off. The number of season ticket holders is up 15% from last year. Individual game tickets went on sale Wednesday and, as of 2pm, the box office made around 200 sales.

"Our ticket sales to date are much higher than they have been in the past," says Weed.

Weed says the upgrades have created a buzz that the team hopes will draw longtime fans and others who haven't been to a game, but want to check out the new stadium.

"All of the things going on around us are just going to create that atmosphere that this is the place to be in the summer time," says Weed.

If the weather doesn't throw a curveball, all the upgrades are on track to be complete by April. Opening day is April 13th.
