Kim Myers (D), a Broome County Legislator, has announced that she will be running for the soon-to-be-vacant 22nd District Congressional seat currently held by Richard Hanna (R).

Myers is currently serving as Minority Leader in the Broome Legislature, a position she took in November 2015.

The former small business owner will join Dave Gordon (D), Claudia Tenney (R), and George Phillips (R) in vying for the seat.

The 22nd District includes all of Chenango, Cortland, Madison, and Oneida counties, and parts of Broome, Herkimer, Oswego, and Tioga counties.

Myers was elected in 2014 to serve the 4th Legislative District of Broome Count, which includes portions of the Town of Vestal including Binghamton University's main campus.

Myers is a lifelong resident of Broome County, graduating from Binghamton North High School and earning a BS in Education from SUNY Cortland. Myers became a member of the Vestal Central School Board of Education, which she had been on for 18 years, eight of which she was President of the Board.
