Patriots roll past Elmira to reclaim Section IV Title
It's been three years since the Binghamton Patriots were Section IV Class AA Champs but that all changed Thursday night. Binghamton defeated Elmira 57-30 to win it's first Section Title since 2012. Olivia Ramil led the Patriots with 15 points.
The Patriots fell to Horseheads in the Section Finals last year and made sure that they remembered how that felt all season long so as to not repeat that feeling this year. Early on it seemed like that may be the case as the Express jumped out to an early 8-0 lead in the first but Head Coach Kristin Lemon-Hoyt called timeout and the Patriots closed the half on a 10-5 run and took control from the early second quarter on. The Express did close the gap to four points in the third but the Patriots put it into cruise control from there.
Annie Ramil and Lauren McPeek added 12 points each for Binghamton.
The Patriots have a few days to enjoy this one as they begin state tournament play on Tuesday at Johnson City against the yet to be determined Section I Champion.
In the Class AA Boys Finals the Horseheads Blue Raiders repeated as Section IV Champions with a 66-52 win over Elmira.
