Changes to Johnson City Street Regulations
By Lindsay Raychel.
New local laws are being placed for alternate street parking in Johnson City.
Johnson City Police say alternate street parking will now be in effect from December 1st through April 1st instead of November 1st like it has been in the past.
Police say under the new laws, parking is permitted on the even side of the street on even calendar days until 4:59 p.m. For example, on December 2nd, parking will be allowed on the side of the street with even house numbers until 4:59 p.m. After 5 p.m. on even days, drivers should park on the odd side of the street.
Law enforcement says from the first day of December through the fifth day of December persons who violate the new laws will be given a written warning tickets only.
Johnson City Police also say that Village streets designated as "Red-Line Streets" will now also be "Snow Emergency Routes" and parking will be prohibited on these streets after a two inch or more snowfall until the street is plowed.
Overnight parking in metered zones will not be allowed December 1st through April 1st from 12:01 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.
