A High Tech Manufacturing Firm Opens in Binghamton
On the business beat, the formerly vacant Hannsman's Mills factory is being put to use.
Binghamton Mayor Rich David joined company officials from Scotttech, a high-tech manufacturing company that designs automated warehouse packaging technology. The newly opened business invested $400,000 into the old manufacturing site. On Thursday the mayor toured with company officials from Syracuse and New Jersey who said they chose Binghamton for its ideal central location.
"We chose Binghamton because it was kind of centrally located so, we're got the software group in Syracuse, out of this facility we have mechanical installation crews, service groups, and then we've got controls and engineering, Project management is all out of Binghamton," said Mike Yezzi, Vice President of Business Development.
As part of its expansion, Scotttech added three new engineering positions, with salaries ranging from $50,000 to $75,000.
